The Crown

Where Have I Been? Well...Christmas happened and my first venture into Netflixen landed me on the first two seasons of The Crown. First I am not a binge watcher. I am a husband and father and don't have the time to just sit around and watch television all the time. That being said over the past two months I have watched both seasons of this show, and I must say you've got to see it to fully enjoy it. The show deals with Elizabeth taking the throne upon the death of her father, from her rocky marriage to Prince Philip, the relationships she forges with the three Prime Ministers (so far in the show) and learning how to be a monarch. I am not sure how to compress two seasons of a television show into a blog (one long enough you'll read but not too long that you'll not read it). The best parts of the show: Prince Philip, from did he/didn't he cheat story line, setting up the Thursday Supper Club and what his place is/isn't in with Elizabeth. Princess Margaret pining after love she can't have because of who the man she loves is divorced, and then when all is lost she meets the man who eventually becomes her husband. Winston Churchill's fall from grace from hero among men to hanging on too long until the point that he realizes he did not live his life he lived the life of Prime Minister. Seriously the episode dedicated to him getting his portrait done is by far one of the best episodes of television I've ever seen in 36 years on this planet. The worst parts of the show: Queen Elizabeth. the title character is the worst part? Yes. Character is incredibly boring and you will look forward to any scene she is not in. Taking creative liberties with actual history. There is too many changes to what actually happened to make the show more dramatic. While most people will not notice this, as a person married to a history teacher and as well as someone who has studied numerous books on the monarchy it is a bit of an annoyance. Should You Watch It? Yes, however I do not suggest binge watching this show. Take your time and let the show sink in a bit. Also read the wikipedia articles on Prince Philip and Princess Margaret if nothing else. 3/5 Stars

What Is Netflixen?

Well you're here and you're probably wondering what in the world Netflixen is. Its simple really, as a father, husband and being employed full time I enjoy a little quiet time just watching movies. In fact before the boom of online media such as Amazon, Netflix, Hulu and Kodi I was an avid collector and have over 500 DVDs at the house. But the same problem I had then remains today, what should I watch? That is where Netflixen comes in, I discovered recently that the Categories menu will randomly generate several movies for you to see depending on the category selected. So now I will embark on a journey to watch as many movies and review them on this site to help my audience to know what you should avoid and what you should try and see. But should you take my advice on seeing something? Do we like the same things? My suggestion to you is simple. If you like what I write about a flick and you agree after seeing it, let me know. If you disagree, let me know. This should do two things, open a dialogue between me and my audience and give you notice if we have the same opinions. If you agree with my reviews there will probably be other stuff out there that you like so you'll always know what to watch, if you always disagree with me, then the stuff I don't like will be your go to.
